Victoria Beckham has come a long way since the launch of her first dress designs in September 2008. Her third and best dress collection (so far) for Spring Summer 2010, showcased at New York Fashion Week, has won her praise from the fashion industry for her “masterful execution”.
According to the September 28, 2009 press release by Models Direct , entitled “Models Direct Heart Victoria Beckham’s Spring Summer 2010 Collection,” Fashion Editor for London’s Evening Standard, Laura Craik, calls the collection “accomplished” and said she found it hard to believe that it was the work of a novice.

The former Spice Girl, famous for her collection of Hermès Birkin bags, offers her latest designs with a bolder, more confident feel — reflecting her own personality and pushing her new-found designer skills to the limits. Fitted dresses cleverly styled to emphasize the waist take on more variation, with a greater diversity of cuts and colors.
Still instantly recognizable as being mastered around her trademark dress, this Spring Summer 2010 collection offers everything from a dramatic black peplum-waisted, sharp shouldered little black dress to a more demure taupe shift dress with a geometric cut-out neckline. These dresses contain built-in corsets which cleverly define the waist and sharp shoulder cuts which emphasize the waistline.
A slight departure is a looser, silky shift-style cocktail dress in a colorful three-tone print and a chrome yellow strapless corset dress, providing a welcome pop of color. Elegant Grecian goddess-inspired evening gowns, prove a further departure, the first full-length evening dresses to be offered in any of her collections.

Beckham’s Spring Summer 2010 collection was showcased in a private art gallery during September 2009’s New York Fashion Week. The designer cleverly talked her audience of journalists and buyers through each design as it appeared on the runway, and demonstrating her masterful knowledge of the fashion world.

Such is the popularity of Victoria Beckham’s designer label that the current Fall Winter 2009 collection sold out at online designer store Net-a-Porter, based on pre-orders.
The secret of her success is that she is able to create stylish well cut dresses which are forever pieces. These are outfits that are specifically designed to flatter real women, making them feel sophisticated and sexy, without being tarty. However, "Posh's" exclusive designs target those lucky women who are still relatively thin and have large purses. Evening gowns in her latest collection carry a price tag of £3,900 (around $6,400)!
During her fledgling design career, Victoria Beckham has been fortunate enough to be mentored by French designer Roland Mouret and supported by good friend, American designer Marc Jacobs. If her second collection (Fall Winter 2009) began to silence her critics, then this bolder, more adventurous departure seems to have hit the mark; enabling many in the fickle world of fashion to leave their preconceptions about this former pop star at the door and judge her designs on their own merits.
